New Delhi, April 6

The BJP today celebrated its 40 years of inception without any razzmatazz in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. In a video address, PM Narendra Modi called India's battle against Covid-19 a long one and outlined ways in which the party cadre could help the needy. He expressed confidence that the country would emerge victorious.

He said India had set an example for the world and had also earned the praise of the World Health Organisation. “India is among the countries that understood the seriousness of the pandemic and launched a comprehensive and timely exercise to combat it,” he said.

Interacting with ministers, the PM asked them to prepare a list of 10 big decisions besides 10 priority areas once the 21-day lockdown ended. He encouraged them to identify and implement pending reforms in their ministries and maintain an index on how their work would promote “Make in India’’ by utilising the crisis as an opportunity to make India less dependent.

He said they should draw up a graded plan to gradually open departments where hotspots did not exist.
