New Delhi, February 11

The contest between AAP candidate from Patparganj Manish Sisodia and BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi was nothing short of a thriller, with Sisodia finally emerging victorious by 3,207 votes on Tuesday.

AAP MLA’s convoy attacked; one shot

  • New Delhi: The AAP claimed that unidentified men opened fire on the convoy of its Mehrauli MLA Naresh Yadav late Tuesday night. It said one party volunteer, Ashok, was killed in the attack and another injured. The incident took place when Yadav was returning from a temple after the results. IANS

In 2013, Sisodia had won by a margin of 11,000 votes and in 2015 by over 28,000 votes. Sisodia, the Deputy CM, is seen as the key figure in CM Arvind Kejriwal’s education and healthcare push in the Capital.

The initial trends saw a seasaw battle between Sisodia and Negi as he trailed after 10 rounds of counting. However, post 11th round of counting, he kept increasing the lead over his rival. “It is the victory of education. The BJP indulged in politics of hate. Today, Delhi’s people have chosen a government which works for them,” he said. — Agencies
