131 deaths, lowest in 8 months: Govt

New Delhi, January 25

India on Monday recorded 131 fatalities related to Covid-19, the lowest in over eight months, the Union Health Ministry said.

On May 17 last year, the country had recorded 120 deaths in a day. The number of cases rose to 1,06,67,736 with 13,203 more testing positive for the virus over the past 24 hours. There are 1,84,182 active cases, which is 1.73 per cent of the total infections and it remains below 2 lakh for the sixth consecutive day, according to the ministry data. According to the ICMR, 19.23 crore tests have been conducted so far with 5,70,246 samples being tested on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a total of 19,50,183 health workers were vaccinated by the end of the 10th day of the national Covid jab drive with 348 adverse events following immunisation being reported.

While 35,785 vaccination sessions have been held so far, 3,34,679 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 7,171 sessions on Monday, the ministry said. — TNS
