Missing couple found dead on rail tracks

Panipat, January 20

A 23-year-old boy and a-21-year-old girl were found dead on the railway track near Tau Devi Lal Park. They reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train. Both were missing from their homes since Saturday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Manish Kumar of Parshuram colony and Simran of Bhulbhuliya Chowk in Wadhawa Ram colony of Panipat.

As per the GRP, they went missing on Saturday evening. Simran’s body was recovered the same day, while that of Manish was recovered from the railway track on Sunday near Tau Devi Lal Park in Sector-6 here.

According to information, they were in a relationship and their family members were against it, as they belonged to different communities.

Simran’s father had lodged a complaint against Manish for kidnapping his daughter for marriage after she went missing on Saturday. Quilla Police had booked Manish under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC.

According to the police, Manish was a truck driver and had passed Class X, while Simran left studies after Class XII. Both came in contact during their school days four years ago.
