Three days after a road breach which cut-off many villagers on both sides of the Kharar-Bassi Pathana road, the District Administration has now swung into action and started making plans on how to fill up the breach.

Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi along with the Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan today visited the spot and took stock of the situation and future course of action.

“The drainage system in the urban areas of the district will be strengthened so as to ensure that the waate water doesn’t overflow and inundate the villages of the region.” Channi said.

The minister further assured that a survey to assess the damage would be conducted and a permanent solution to the problem would be found to prevent the reoccurence of such a calamity.

It is worth mentioning that the SYL canal filled with the sewer water was breached at Malikpur village near Kharar recently. The Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said he has constituted a committee comprising officers from the drainage department, the PWD and the Executive Officer of the Kharar Municipal Council to look into the matter and take corrective steps.

Among others present on the occasion, included Kharar SDM Himanshu Jain; NS Walia, Executive Engineer, PWD; and Ajay Singla, SDO, PWD.
