Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine board reviews sports complex activities

The seventh meeting of the governing council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra, was held here, wherein a number of significant decisions for scouting the sporting talent and arranging mega sports events in the coming months to promote sports and games in the area and for developing the sports complex as a centre of excellence were taken.

In this context, the governing council decided to organise a mega sports festival at the Sports Complex in Katra next month to enable student and non-student youth of the area to avail the state-of-the-art facilities constructed by the shrine board.

The sports events being planned for the festival include competitions in basketball, football, tug of war, kabaddi and volleyball. The governing council also decided that besides athletics, archery, shooting and basketball, judo will be another area of focus to produce outstanding players in these games.

Ashok Bhan, member, shrine board and chairman of the governing council of the Sports Complex, chaired the meeting.

The governing council took a detailed review of the various sports activities organised at the Sports Complex and lauded these initiatives.
