Market comittees’ office-bearers take charge

“We have got the most deserving persons as chairman and vice-chairman, along with members of the Market Committees of Phillaur and Goraya and I hope that they will continue to work hard for people of the Assembly,” said Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary as the newly appointed office-bearers of market committees assumed charge today.

Makhan Singh Khaira has been appointed as chairman of Market Committee, Phillaur and Dara Singh Rai has been appointed chairman of market committee, Goraya. Vijay Kumar Billa and Ram Lubhaya are vice chairmen of market committees of Phillaur and Goraya, respectively. Akhand Path of Shri Guru Granth Sahib was organised on the occasion.

Assembly in-charge Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for their appointments. He said the state government had worked hard to put the state back on the track of development after it was destroyed by Akali-BJP regime in previous two terms. “We have started various development projects in Phillaur assembly constituency to make the lives of people better,” he added.

Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, general secretary, Punjab congress asked the newly appointed leaders to work dedicatedly.

“I am sure they will work with devotion and honesty. The functioning of market committees needs to be improved for the welfare of people. I hope they will be able to bring constructive change in the working of these committees,” he said.

Arter the bhog of Akhand Path, Makhan Singh Khaira, Dara Singh Rai, Vijay Kumar Billa and Ram Lubhaya assumed the charge of their offices in the presence of MP Chaudhary, Vikramjit Chaudhary and a large of number of other senior Congress leaders and workers.
