Youngsters of Dulley village and surrounding localities here have vowed to adopt sports as an element of lifestyle and shun drugs with an intent to achieve their target of doing service to society.

The oath was taken in response to a call made by organisers of a function held at the Santokh Singh Memorial Stadium at Falahi Sahib, near Dehlon village, on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla highway on Friday.

Brij Bhushan Goyal, sports promoter, led the enthusiasts in the oath-taking ceremony while secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, chaired the event.

The organisers distributed 24 sets of footballs and kits among 100 players, including girls and boys.

Speakers, including Brij Bhushan Goyal, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Zora Singh, Makhan Singh, Charanjit Singh Alamgir and coach Kulwinder Singh, called upon residents of the area to persuade their wards to adopt sports as an element of their lifestyle, which would inculcate traits of empathy, cooperation, healthy competition, time management and stress management in them.
