Ludhiana's young voters want better job opportunities

Pinning hopes on the next government to get a corruption-free environment and better job opportunities, youngsters came forward to cast their vote.

They want the education and health sectors must be improved. They said sports should be promoted by the next government in the state.

As a large number of youngsters go abroad to study, youngsters said the new government must provide better job opportunities with respectable pay scales to the youth here so that they would not be forced to leave their country.

Jitesh Arora (18) from the Ludhiana West constituency said: “I want to see a corruption-free and pollution-free environment. As youngsters are going abroad, a less number of new young voters are getting registered.”

“The government must take serious initiatives to provide employment, along with respectable pay scales, to the youth otherwise, they will keep moving ahead to settle in foreign countries,” he said.

Himakshi (19) said: “Youngsters should be encouraged by involving them in healthy debates for the betterment of the country. More jobs should be created and provided to youngsters. The government should take concrete steps to encourage youths towards sports. Moreover, elected representatives should conduct open house discussions with citizens for development works.”

Simranjit Singh (20) of the Atam Nagar constituency said there was a dire need to improve health and education sectors. “There is no government college in the Atam Nagar constituency. We want that a government college must be built in our area. Moreover, the constituency also lacks a government hospital.”

Another youngster in Atam Nagar, Rahul, said: “The road leading to our house has not been constructed due to which we face a lot of inconvenience. I did cast my vote today, seeking development in our area. Issues being faced by the people must be resolved on a priority basis.”
