World Judo Day observed

Martial arts trainees observed World Judo Day at the multipurpose indoor hall of Guru Nanak Stadium here on Wednesday. Coaches of different sports disciplines and parents of some of the players were also present there.

Around 60 judokas gathered at the Ludhiana Judo Coaching Centre to celebrate the 138-year old sport to mark the day. Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer (DSO), Ludhiana, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The DSO exhorted the players to train hard and ready for the competitions. He appreciated the coaches who continued to impart coaching amid the pandemic.

Parveen Thakur, a judo coach of the Punjab Sports Department, dwelt in detail the history of the game and how it was a different avenue to get in shape and be able to defend oneself.
