Woman elopes with paramour, arrested

A married woman eloped with her alleged paramour and decamped with cash and valuables worth several lakhs from her in-laws’ house in Jagraon.

The Sadar police Jagraon registered a case against the woman Kamalpreet Kaur, her paramour Tajinderpal Singh of Gholia Khurd, Moga, and two unknown persons.

The complainant Kulwant Singh of Sidhwan Jalan told the police that his son Gurpreet Singh had got married to Kamalpreet Kaur of Dodhar, Moga, on November 1 this year, but the woman had an extra-marital affair.

On November 16 early morning, his son had gone to CT University, where he was working. Later in the morning, his daughter-in-law Kamalpreet told him that her uncle was to visit their house and she had to go to the bus stand to receive him.

”When my daughter-in-law didn’t return home till late evening, I started searching for her. I was then told by a villager that they had seen Kamalpreet, along with three persons, in a car and those were unknown persons,” the complainant said.

Later when he started inquiring the matter, he was shocked to know that his daughter-in-law had eloped with one Tajinderpal, with whom she had extra-marital affair.

He said the accused also took away Rs18,000, gold ornaments worth lakhs and some other valuables from his house.

The complainant said he later submitted a complaint and a case was registered by the Jagraon Sadar police against his daughter-in-law, her paramour and two unknown persons who were aides of Tajinderpal.

The police said the woman and her paramour were arrested today and raids were on to nab the remaining accused, who helped them elope.
