Ludhiana, September 12

A 14-year-old boy was killed in a scuffle over a minor dispute at Katiana Kalan village last evening. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh.

According to information, Gurpreet had gone to water his fields on Friday when another resident of the village Sarup Ram Rupa came and started arguments with him over watering the fields. The suspect wanted to water his fields first but the boy was adamant as he said he had reached the place before him, hence, he would do it first.

In no time, the argument took an ugly turn when Rupa snatched the hoe from Gurpreet’s hand and attacked him. Leaving the boy there, the suspect fled the spot.

After around an hour when Gurpreet’s relative reached the spot, the victim was lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

ACP Davinder Chaudhary said the deceased was a student of Class IX, adding that raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.
