Vice-Chancellor visits buffalo research centre at Booh village

Ludhiana, June 22

Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, along with Dr Harish Kumar Verma, Director, Extension Education; Dr Satyavan Rampal, DSW-cum-EO and Jagwinder Jit Singh Grewal, ADC (General), Tarn Taran, visited and monitored the ongoing construction work of regional research and training centre (RRTC) on buffaloes at Booh village, Tarn Taran.

XENs Dr Amandeep Sharma and Dr P Malhotra explained about the various units of buffalo farm and administration block of the project. Sukhwinder Sidhu, vice-chairman, block samiti, Patti and sarpanchs of villages Harike and Booh were also present.

Dr Balwinder Kumar, deputy director (T), welcomed the VC and other officers at a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and informed about the RRTC and ongoing activities of the KVK to the team. At the RRTC site, the VC examined the work and proposed valuable suggestions for setting up various infrastructures at the centre.

He said the work of the RRTC will be completed as soon as possible and the buffalo centre will be one of the best outstation centres of the university for delivering facilities to the livestock farmers in the entire Majha region. It will provide the germplasm and demonstrate best management practices to the dairy farmers. — TNS
