Ludhiana, August 20

Thieves struck at a tyre showroom in Dugri, Phase I, last night and decamped with tyres worth Rs 15 lakh. The showroom is located near the Dugri police station.

The showroom owner, Shashi Saksena, a resident of Dhandran Road, said he put up shutters at 8.30 pm yesterday and left for his place. At 5 am in the morning, he got a call from a passerby who said the shutter of the showroom had been broken. He reached the showroom and was shocked to find that the thieves had stolen the entire stock of tyres.

He said he immediately called the police control room but the police reached after one hour.

Shashi said he was one of the main suppliers of tyres in Ludhiana.

Five CCTV cameras have been installed at the showroom but the thieves took away the DVR.

The police said it seemed the thieves tied a rope to the shutter and pulled it off with a vehicle.

The Dugri SHO, Joginder Singh, said the footage of CCTV cameras of the areas was being scanned to get some clue about the thieves.
