Two phones snatched from factory workers

Two mobile phones have reportedly been snatched in the city.

Mijanur Rehman and Mazhar Islam, both workers of Dakha Plywood Factory at Gaunspur village, lost their mobile phones to two persons who accosted them while the duo was going back to their room after purchasing provisions in the evening.

The complainants said the snatchers beat both of them up and fled after snatching their mobile phones.

The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC.

Woman arrested for stealing mobile

A woman, Manpreet Kaur, resident of Khud Mohalla, was arrested by the police and booked under Sections 379 and 411of the IPC for allegedly stealing a mobile phone of another woman in the Women and Child Ward of Civil Hospital here on Sunday.

In a complaint to the police, Jatinder Singh, resident of Harkrishan Nagar, said he had gone to the hospital with his wife to meet his friend Deepak, whose wife had given birth to a child. “My wife went out of the ward while carrying the newborn and left her mobile phone on the hospital bed, which was stolen,” said the complainant. In the course of investigation, the police arrested the accused woman and recovered the stolen mobile phone from her.

The police have recovered a stolen motorcycle and nabbed a thief, identified as Gagandeep Singh, resident of Kanech village. Satwinder Sigh, resident of Ballowal village, under the Jodhan police station, had lodged a complaint with the police that his Bajaj Platina motorcycle (PB-10DK-1218), parked at Civil Hospital in Sahnewal was stolen.

On the basis of information provided by the complainant, the police arrested the thief and recovered the stolen motorcycle. A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC was registered.
