Two of thieves? gang nailed

The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and arrested two of its members. They have recovered stolen items, including gold ornaments, from the accused.

They have been identified as Surajpal, a native of UP, at present residing in Kunj Vihar, and Kaka of Rajan Estate.

In a statement issued, Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the CIA wing had received a tip-off that Surajpal had committed thefts at several houses in the city and he had sold stolen goods to another accused Kaka.

Accordingly, the police party laid a trap and nabbed the duo. During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed that they had committed around 15 thefts at houses and had stolen valuables worth lakhs in these incidents.

Surajpal also had a notorious past as he was already facing cases of thefts, snatching and attempt to murder registered at various police stations.

CIA in-charge inspector Harminder Singh said a police remand of the accused would be sought so that more valuables could be seized and to arrest more members of the gang.

Gold jewellery, LCDs among recovered items

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the police recovered two LCDs, a tablet, six mobile phones, five wrist watches, a camera, two laptops and gold and silver ornaments from the two arrested accused.
