Two more cured, Rajgarh resident discharged

What came as a good news for the people of Ludhiana district a day after Jalandhar-based patient was discharged from the hospital, two Covid-19 patients from Ludhiana district were also declared ‘cured’ today.

While one of the patients was discharged from the hospital today, the other will be discharged tomorrow. Both patients were admitted to Civil Hospital. The patient belonging to Rajgarh village was discharged today. The other, who has been cured, belongs to Chowkiman village.

Thirtyfive-year-old man, a resident of Rajgarh village in Doraha block, tested positive for Covid on April 5 while 55-year-old man from Chowkiman village was reported positive on April 6. Both had attended the Tablighi Jammat gathering in Delhi.

Before setting out for his home, the resident of Rajgarh village thanked the doctors, nurses and the other staff of the hospital. He said: “People should not fear this disease but should come forward and consult the doctor if they see any symptoms”. He also appealed to the people that spread of Covid should not be linked to any particular religion.

Sharing his experience in isolation, he said: “I had always remained positive and never let negativity cast a shadow on my thoughts. I read books related to religion and used to offer ‘namaz’ five times a day”.

He was all praise for the staff of Civil Hospital who kept the flame of hope alive in him. “The staff and counsellors were so motivating and encouraging that they never let me lose hope and with their support, my willpower and God’s help, I am cured and going back home today,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Health Department today conducted 324 rapid tests at the Flu Corner of the Civil Hospital and at Sabzi Mandi. From tomorrow, the Centre has stopped rapid tests.
