Two die after being hit by mini-truck

Two persons, including a labourer, lost their lives when a mini-truck hit them near Canal Bridge at Jawaddi, near here, on Monday. They died on the spot.

One of the deceased has been identified as Ram Chander (45) of Jawaddi. Hailing from Nepal, he was working as a labourer. The other victim was yet to be identified by the police.

The truck was going towards Doraha from the Ferozepur side via Southern Bypass when the accident occurred. It is learnt that the driver took a turn to save a pedestrian after which the truck hit the two victims.

The police started a probe in the incident. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified truck driver who had managed to escape after the mishap, leaving the vehicle on the spot. — TNS
