Training on pear fruit processing at PAU

Ludhiana, September 13

The Punjab Horticultural Postharvest Technology Centre, PAU Campus, organised a training programme on processing of pear fruits.

Ten persons from Progressive FPO (farmer producer organisaion) of Khadur Sahib, Tarn Taran district, attended the training course.

Dr BVC Mahajan, director of the centre, explained about the post-harvest handling operations and packaging of pear fruits required for distant marketing. Dr Swati Kapoor demonstrated technologies for preparation of pear nectar, jam, candy and bar.

Dr Ritu Tandon and Dr Pooja discussed about the importance of food quality and fresh-cut technology of fruits and vegetables. The programme was sponsored by the Chief Agriculture Officer, Tarn Taran, under the ATMA scheme.
