‘Time to shun politics, take pandemic head on’

Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLA from Atam Nagar Simarjit Singh Bains is known for being 'vocal'. Be it politics or social issues, Bains speaks without mincing his words.

While commenting on the present Covid-19 scenario, Bains says the pandemic has changed the world in many ways. It has come up as a challenge for the mankind. This is not the right time to play politics. Instead, we need to handle the situation deftly. The decision to impose the lockdown was a timely move by the government as the health sector here in India is not in a position to tackle the issue in case of emergency.

Earlier, the funds were deposited under the Disaster Management funds, but now these are under the Prime Minister fund, which is not right as the trust comprises BJP leaders, RSS workers.

Getting publicity in name of public welfare not done

It is good that the state government is providing ration and other essentials to the masses, but what is the need to get pictures clicked? And why is ration being distributed by the party leaders and their workers? Why can't the government officials do so? It seems both BJP/Congress want to contest the next elections on the of Covid-19 agenda.

Sustaining labour without govt aid not feasible

Another issue is industry, which is suffering the most. Asking traders to pay them wages at this time is frivolous. From where will they pay? Either the government should provide them some option or chip in to pay the labour. Passing orders in an arbitrary manner will yield no results.

The major problem is of private hospitals. A Corona patient recently had to shell out approximately Rs 4 lakh for four days of treatment. Why can't these hospitals do charity at this time of crisis?

Advance paddy sowing

Once the lockdown is over, labour will rush to native places. Better to keep them engaged in agriculture here by changing the time of paddy sowing.
