Three arrested for assault on constable at police post

The Shimplapuri police have arrested Rahul Kumar and his brothers Rohit Kumar and Ajay Kumar, all residents of Mohalla Harkrishan Nagar in New Shimplapuri, under sections 186/332/353/34 of the IPC for assault on police constable Gurjinder Singh, who was deployed on guard duty at the Basant Park police post, yesterday.

Gurjinder said the trio had come to the police post and said they wanted to meet the in charge of the police post. “I told them to wait but Rahul attempted to force his entry inside. When I stopped him from doing so, one of them laid his hand on my firearm while the others slapped and abused me. In the scuffle, my uniform was also torn,” said the complainant.

He said the police post in charge and the others present there rescued him and the suspects were arrested.

Six booked in two cases of assault

The Koom Kalan police have booked four persons, Tejinderpal Singh, his brother Ramandeep Singh, Sandeep Singh and his brother Manpreet Singh, all residents of Harian village under sections 324, 326, 341, 506 and 34 of the IPC for allegedly making an assault on Sanjay Singh, a resident of the same village, on the night of June 27 due to old enmity. Sanjay Singh, who sustained grievous injuries on his head inflicted with a sharp weapon, was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Samrala.

In another incident of assault, the Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case against a woman and her accomplice Pappu Sahni, both residents of Barewal Road, under sections 323, 341 and 506 of the IPC for beating up Kunti Devi (30) due to old enmity. The complainant said she was sitting in her quarter in Barewal village when the suspects forced their entry inside and assaulted her.
