Thieves strike at bizman?s house, steal valuables worth Rs20 lakh

Thieves targeted the house of auto spare parts businessman at Basant Avenue, Dugri, and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 20 lakh. The miscreants were captured in CCTV cameras and the police started a probe to identify them.

The incident came to fore in the wee hours of this morning when the occupants of the house returned from Delhi.

Suresh Kumar Dogra, owner of the house, said he owns an auto spare parts shop at Gill Chowk. On November 30, all family members had gone to Delhi to meet their relatives.

Gold, cash stolen from almirahs

After breaking open the locks of two almirahs lying in separate rooms of the house, the thieves decamped with gold worth Rs15 lakh, Rs5 lakh in cash and other valuables. —Suresh Kumar Dogra, owner of the house

When they returned this morning, they were shocked to see that the thieves had ransacked the entire house. The miscreants entered the house after scaling the outer wall. Then they uprooted the kitchen’s grill to ease their entry into the house.

“After breaking open the locks of two almirahs lying in separate rooms, they decamped with gold worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 5 lakh in cash and other valuables,” said Dogra.

The thieves also took away the arms licence of a .12 bore rifle. He said his son’s wedding was scheduled to be held in February this year and they had bought gold for the same. Even the cash was also kept to make some advance payments for the marriage. But the thieves took away everything.

Dogra said as per footage captured in CCTV cameras, three masked thieves had committed the theft. They had entered the house at around 1 am today and left the house within 30 minutes.

After the family informed the police, police officials, along with a team of forensic experts, had reached the house and started a probe.

A case against the unidentified miscreants was registered by the Basant Avenue police.

Factory burgled

Thieves struck at a garments’ factory, KS Garments, at Kailash Nagar on the intervening night of December 2 and 3. Owner of the factory Kashish Singla said thieves had decamped with a huge stock of garments, seven sewing machines, a LED, Rs 50,000 in cash and the value of stolen valuables was in lakhs.

The police have registered a case against the unidentified miscreants. They are also scanning CCTV cameras to get any clue about the thieves.
