Students learn about functioning of courts

To update students about the functioning of judicial system and instill confidence among them about the implementation of laws, the management committee of SRM Convent School, Pohir, today organised an excursion trip of students to the court complex at Shri Mukatsar Sahib.

Students also visited other historical and religious places, including Gurdwara Tutti Gandhi Sahib and Mukte Minar.

Judicial officers led by District and Sessions Judge Arunvir Vashista illustrated various concepts and court proceeding to the students.

Jawahar Lal Mittal, chairman, SRM Convent School, said teachers led by Principal Sheenam Samuel convened educative sessions of students with the personnel involved in the functioning of courts. “They were taken to the Session House and District and Sessions Court at Mukatsar and briefed about the role of court in dispensing justice,” he said. They were also informed about court proceedings, role of the public prosecutor in criminal trials and availability of free legal aid being provided by the courts. — OC
