Squash coach returns gold found outside SBI branch

Setting an example of honesty, a man returned gold worth lakhs to the manager of the SBI branch at Fountain Chowk after a bank official carelessly dropped it outside the bank today.

Sunny (29), a squash coach at Sutlej Club, was standing outside the bank when he noticed something falling from the pocket of a man while entering the bank. He immediately picked up the packet and found it contained gold.

He waited there for a few minutes to find the man from whose pocket the packet had fallen. Soon, bank officials. along with other persons, came out and started searching for the gold. Sunny told the bank officials that he had found a packet containing gold. He them went inside the bank and handed over the packet to the manager.

The bank officials and the person who owned the gold thanked Sunny and lauded him for his honesty.

Sunny said the owner wanted to mortgage the gold to raise a loan. When a bank official went outside to the check the weight and purity of the gold, the packet fell off his pocket.

Sunny’s father runs a lemon drink kiosk outside the bank.
