Ludhiana, August 26

MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, along with Ludhiana (East) MLA Sanjay Talwar, inspected ward number 21 here today. Residents have been complaining about the problem of overflowing sewers in the area for

a long time.

Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal instructed the officials concerned to do the needful to resolve the problem at the earliest. The Commissioner had also instructed the officers to check the sewer connections of dyeing units and water being discharged

by the units in the area, said an official.

Talwar said waste water from a dyeing unit was being accumulated on the roads. “The sewers are overflowing in Heera Nagar and Baba Deep Singh Nagar in the ward. We have given strict instructions to the officials concerned to take required steps to resolve the problem at the earliest,” he said.

“If a machine at sewage disposal units of Gaushala Road and near Shingar Cinema develops a snag, the repair work is generally delayed for a week. The MC officials have been asked to instruct the contractor concerned to ensure repair within 24 hours. Besides, I have also raised a demand before the Commissioner that the MC should install five new machines for standby purpose at disposal units,” said Talwar.

Talwar further said he and MC Commissioner also inspected the ongoing sewer related work on Rahon Road again today. “The contractor concerned has been asked to resolve the sewer related problem within next two days,” he said.
