Smuggler held with 15-kg ganja

Ludhiana, November 19

The Crime Investigation Wing of the police nabbed a smuggler and recovered 15 kg of ganja from his possession on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Mumtaz Alam, alias Mansu, native of Bihar, presently residing at Mohalla New Madhopuri here.

Inspector Parveen Kumar, in-charge, Crime Branch-II, in a statement said secret information was received that Mumtaz Alam was on the way to deliver a huge quantity of ganja. Accordingly a police party laid a naka and stopped Mumtaz Alam, who was riding a scooter for checking. During the checking of the boot of the scooter 15 kg of ganja was recovered.

Inspector Parveen said Mumtaz Alam was on the way to deliver narcotics to his clients in the city. Now police remand of the accused would be sought to bust the supply line of drugs and key suppliers of drugs would also be nabbed.
