LIP's Randhir Singh Sivia 5th richest candidate in Punjab

Ludhiana, February 17

Randhir Singh Sivia of the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) from Ludhiana North is the fifth richest candidate in the state with his declared assets amounting to Rs 111.17 crore.

He is among the 69 of the total 175 contestants in the poll fray in Ludhiana whose declared assets are above Rs 1 crore.

Sivia (54), who had finished third from Ludhiana North in 2017, is almost 10 times richer than his party’s supremo Atam Nagar MLA Simarjit Singh Bains and 12 times wealthier than Simarjit’s Ludhiana South MLA brother Balvinder Singh Bains.

The multi-millionaire nominee’s assets include Rs 110.8 crore immovable and Rs 37.36 lakh worth movable assets.

The under-matric richest candidate in Ludhiana is, however, less wealthy than four other candidates in the state.

Those richer than Sivia in the state are Kulwant Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from Mohali, whose worth is Rs 238.53 crore, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad worth Rs 202.64 crore, Karan Kaur of the Congress from Muktsar worth Rs 155.41 crore and Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh of the Congress from Kapurthala worth Rs 125. 64 crore.

In Ludhiana, Jasdeep Kaur Yadu of the SAD from Khanna is the second richest candidate with declared assets amounting to Rs 40.31 crore. She is placed on 21st rank among the wealthiest contestants in the state.

MOST WEALTHY IN SAHNEWAL

Most of the crorepati candidates in Ludhiana district are from the rural Sahnewal Assembly seat. Seven of the total 19 contestants from Sahnewal have declared assets worth over Rs1 crore and two of them are among top 10, ranked at ninth and 10th place in the district.

12 MLAs CROREPATIS

Twelve crorepati nominees in the district are MLAs, two of them are Cabinet ministers.

LONE WOMAN

First-timer Jasdeep Kaur Yadu of the SAD from Khanna, having assets worth Rs40.31 crore, is the lone woman candidate in the crorepati club in the district. She ranks 21st in the state tally of wealthy contestants.
