Ludhiana, April 14

A fast food shop owner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his residence near the Division No. 3 police station today.

The deceased has been identified as Gagandeep Singh. He owned a shop, named Kwality House.

After receiving information, the police officials reached the spot and started investigation.

The police recovered a suicide note which says Jagga, a policeman of Ludhiana, had been demanding Rs 50 lakh from him, due to which he was depressed, and ultimately took the extreme step.

The note, however, says nothing as to why Rs 50 lakh was being demanded by policeman.

Meanwhile, ACP Waryam Singh said Gagandeep’s wife had given different statements while the suicide note said something else. The police were verifying the allegations and further action would be taken as per the law.

The police officials said the authenticity of the suicide note would also be verified by sending it to the forensic lab of the Punjab police. — TNS
