SGPC election: Door-to-door campaign to enrol voters starts in Mandi Ahmedgarh

Mandi Ahmedgarh, January 29

With the intent to include the maximum number of eligible Sikh citizens in the electorate for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, the civil administration has launched a door-to-door campaign to spread awareness about the registration.

While designated officials at local bodies, administrative and revenue offices have been advised to minimise inconvenience to citizens when approaching them, Block Level Officers (BLOs) have been asked to reach out to every eligible Sikh for filling and collecting their registration forms.

Ahmedgarh SDM Harbans Singh said the staff deployed for undertaking registration of new voters and amendments have been advised to ensure that every eligible Gursikh is encouraged to get registered as a voter for the election.

“Having received instructions from Malerkotla Deputy Commissioner Dr Pallavi, we launched a campaign in the subdivision to spread awareness about the procedure for registration of SGPC voters,” said Harbans Singh.

Singh added that they would register a high number of voters by the February 29 deadline.

Eligible citizens can also fill the forms by visiting Patwari/Kanungo or SDM offices in their respective regions, he said.
