Ludhiana, September 23

The GNDEC School of Architecture organised a special session on sustainability during the three-day International Congress: Sustainable development through engineering innovations.

Dr PS Chani, HOD, Department of Architecture and Planning, IIT-Roorkee and Sanjay Goel, Director, Ludhiana Smart City Limited and Chairman, IIA, Punjab Chapter, were the keynote speakers at the event. Other noted professionals who presented their research were Dr Harsimran Kaur, Prof Vivek Sehgal, Parshant Rehal, and Desh Deepak Pandey.

Dr Chani focussed on high embodied energy of stereotype building materials and components such as brick, concrete, RCC, etc. and stressed on the use of alternate materials with low embodied energies which will lead to low carbon footprint of construction industries around the globe. — TNS
