Schoolteacher booked for sexual harassment

Ludhiana: The Koom Kalan police registered a case of sexual harassment against a government schoolteacher on Tuesday. He allegedly sexually harassed a 10-year-old girl student. The accused has been identified as Hardeep Singh, teacher at Government Middle School of Boothgarh Jatta village near Koom Kalan. The grandfather of the victim girl told the police that his granddaughter studies in Class VI in Government Middle School of Boothgarh Jatta village. On October 30, when his granddaughter returned from school, she revealed about her sexual harassment. She had revealed that teacher had called her in his office in the school where he touched her body parts. On Tuesday the girl’s kin had lodged a complaint. Investigation officer ASI Raghubir Singh said after registering a case further probe has been launched. TNS

Diwali celebrated

Ludhiana: Students of Shree Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana, celebrated a clean and green Diwali at the college. Women Development Cell and Youth Club took the initiative to celebrate the festival. Students took part in diya decoration, plantation, rangoli and poster-making events. A rally was taken out to spread the message of celebrating the Diwali bereft of air pollution. Prizes were given to the students in diya decoration, rangoli-making and poster-making. — TNS
