Schools to reopen Class VI onwards

Government and private schools, which were closed for students up to Class X due to the severe cold, will be opened from tomorrow. Still the primary classes till Class V will be closed till January 20, as per new the directions issued today. At the same time there is not much respite from the cold wave which is likely to continue for more days, as per the weather reports.

The timings of the schools were already changed due to the cold, but taking note of the severe cold, the government had ordered for closure of schools till July 14, only students from classes XI and XII were asked to attend the schools. The teachers were asked to conduct online classes for the students upto Class X.

Now, the schools will be opened for classes VI-X from tomorrow and timings for all would be from 10 am to 3 pm, except for the double shift government schools.

“The schools have to cover the syllabus as the final examination will be held soon. The online classes hardly bear any fruits,” said Gurminder Kaur, a teacher at a private school here.
