Staff of government and private-aided schools of the region are busy distributing food grains of the mid-day meal among the students at their homes.

Though it is an uphill task to reach out to students at their home situated at distant localities, teachers and their helpers are glad as with this exercise, they are able to meet students amid the lockdown and also hold informal parent-teacher meetings.

These teachers and accompanying staff members are also spreading awareness about proactive measures to be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Maherna Kalan, Davinder Singh Purba said employees of his school, led by in-charge Mid-Day Meal Scheme Shaukat Ali, were glad that they had interacted with almost all students of their classes and their parents when they visited various localities to distribute wheat, rice and some cash among students of classes upto VIII standard.

The Director, Education Department (Elementary Education), had advised all district education officers of the region to ensure that students of primary and upper primary wings of schools falling under their jurisdiction are getting supplies of wheat and rice during the lockdown period at their places. Cash for vegetables, pulses and spices was also to be given to parents.

Principal, MGMN Senior Secondary School, Ahmedgarh, Viney Kumar said Mid-Day Meal in-charge had been advised to ensure that the requisite amount and materials were delivered at homes of students safely, after following advisory regarding prevention of spread of Covid.

Showing satisfaction over the outcome of the exercise, Viney Kimar said: “Though it is a bit cumbersome, the exercise proved to be mutually beneficial for families of students and the school authorities as well. We got a chance to interact with parents of our students who wanted to clarify their questions on admissions and studies.”
