Ludhiana, April 4

Residents of various wards in the city have not received essentials on doorstep to date. Irate residents and migrant labourers claimed that the administration has failed to distributed ration to them.

Jaspal Kaur, a resident of ward number 56 (street 1), Mehmoodpura, near Islamia School, has urged the authorities to provide ration at the earliest. She said ration was being distributed to some residents while the needy have been left out.

Another resident from the same ward, said ration should be distributed to the needy. He claimed that they have sent a message to the councillor concerned.

Senior Deputy Mayor-cum- councillor of ward number 56, Sham Sundar Malhotra, claimed, “Ration is being distributed to the needy without any discrimination. Some people have taken ration from different organisations, but they are still demanding more ration. If someone has not received ration, they must contact me directly.”

Similar complaints have been pouring in from other areas as well with residents alleging that essential commodities were not being delivered on doorstep by the authorities.

Several residents of Sarabha Nagar claimed that delivery of essentials has taken a hit. A resident (Ex-serviceman) of Sarabha Nagar, on condition of anonymity said, “I have written to the government that essential commodities are not being delivered on time. We are not getting milk. The authorities concerned must act to ensure delivery of essentials on doorstep.”

Besides, residents said supply of vegetables has picked up pace, but fruits are not being delivered at all. — TNS
