Ludhiana: Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, celebrated the birth anniversary of Hazoor Maharaj Param Sant Kirpal Singh with the aim to inculcate the teachings of the guru among students. The event commemorated by paying obeisance to him with reciting of shabads by the school choir. Teachers told students the teachings of the guru. Principal Jyoti Sachdev Pujara urged students to work for the sake of humanity.

A religious congregation was held to seek blessings of Hazoor Maharaj Param Sant Kirpal Singh. Principal Vinita Sanan spoke on the saint’s guidance and urged students and teachers to follow the teachings of the guru.

The celebrations began with a shabad, followed by floral tributes to the saint by Principal Ritu, staff members and students. Sweets were also distributed among students.

Hawan performed at Police DAV

Police DAV Public School, Police Lines, Civil Lines, performed a hawan on the campus to seek the blessings of the Almighty for the upcoming board examinations. Principal and staff and students of Class X and XII performed the hawan. Principal Anu Verma prayed for excellent results of students and that they achieve success in all their future endeavours. After the hawan, she made students aware of various guidelines of the examination released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar

To seek the blessings of the Almighty for board exams, a hawan was performed on the campus. Students of Class X and XII paid obeisance to the Almighty by chanting hymns. Principal Neelam Mittar blessed the students and exhorted them to tread the path of righteousness and stay focused on their goals with positive mindset.

BCM School, Chandigarh Road

The school performed a hawan to seek blessings of the Almighty for Class X and XII students. Students performed the hawan, followed by singing of religious melodies by the school choir. Principal DP Guleria urged students to be compassionate towards the less fortunate and help society with available resources and skills.

Career counselling in fashion

DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, organised a career counselling session in fashion for the students of Classes X and XII. Director Geeta Nagrath, along with the members from International Institute of Fashion Technology, Ludhiana, apprised students about various career options in fashion technology. The experts told students about various employment opportunities available in the sector. Students were also given information about courses in fashion, interior, jewellery and textile designing. College Notes

Cricket tournament held

Ludhiana: The sports department of CT University organised a four-day cricket tournament, in which 16 teams participated from various academies and schools participated. The final match was played between CT Public School and Young Friends Cricket Club. CT Public School won the match by 50 runs and bagged a cash prize of Rs 16,000. Risabh and Rajeshwar from CT Public School were declared the best batsman and bowler, respectively, while ‘Man of the series’ title was given to Sikander from Young Friends Cricket Club. Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi and Vice Chancellor Harsh Sadawarti congratulated the winners.

Students take part in open mic

Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised an open mic event. The event was organised entirely by students. Teachers appreciated the efforts put in by students and said students had displayed commendable organizational and managerial skills. A total of 17 performers showcased their talent in events such as poetry recitation, art, drama and mimicry. The event was organised in the college for the first time.

PCTE student bags Rs10-Lakh package

Rohit Dhiman, student of MBA-IB (batch 2018-20) at PCTE Group of Institutes, got placed at Lido Learning with a package of Rs 10 lakh per annum. Rohit is the sixth student from the current batch to secure this package. Besides him, three other students of MBA have also secured jobs with Byju’s with the same package. A total of 65 companies visited the campus for placements during the session. Gautam Bansal, director of the institute, said the focus of MBA curriculum at PCTE was to give maximum practical exposure to students. KNS Kang, director general, congratulated students on their success.

Visit to Atal Tinkering Lab

The innovation council of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women arranged a visit for 50 students to Atal Tinkering Lab at DAV Public School, BRS Nagar. The aim of the visit was to boost the innovative spirit of students by introducing them to opportunities to experiment with technology provided in the tinkering labs. Students got a chance to understand the working process of humanoids, 3-D printings and coding of hardware devices and chips controlled through the C-programme.

Tryst with author nomita khanna

The English Literary Society and Postgraduate Department of English of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan campus, Model Town, organised an interactive session with author Nomita Khanna. Khanna is the author of ‘Rose’s Bent Stem’, a chilling psychological thriller. During a book-reading session, she talked about her creative journey and gave students tips to make creative process a simple and enjoyable journey.

Workshop on e-filing of ITR

The Postgraduate Department of Commerce of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised an awareness workshop on e-filing of Income Tax Return (ITR). More than 58 students were made aware of how to file ITR by Jagjit Singh, chartered accountant and faculty member of institute Etude Pro. He discussed the latest updates of the Budget 2020 and its impact on the economy Principal Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of the department for conducting the workshop.

GCG holds multi-cultural fest

The ninth Punjab multi-cultural fest was hosted by the Government College for Girls in collaboration with the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council. Performances by Mexican artists and artists of the college were the star attraction of the programme. Mexican artists exhibited their folklore through singing and dancing while the artists of the college presented a variety of Indian folk dances. Principal Manju Sahni felicitated the Mexican delegation with souvenirs and certificates. TNS
