Rajveer shoots 3 gold in national championship

Rajveer Singh Gill of Kotli village, near Dakha, has given a sterling performance and won three gold medals in the 64th National Shooting Championship held at Patiala recently.

After striking bronze medal in an international competition at Peru, America, Rajveer (20) logged victory against experienced and established shooting stars in the skeet events at Patiala wherein competition in shotgun was held.

A trainee of his father, Manmohan Singh Gill, Rajveer, a first year law student at Punjabi University, Patiala, clinched two gold medals in the individual categories (junior and senior men), besides enabling Punjab team secure gold medal in the junior section. Rajveer created history of sorts in Patiala as he became the first shooter to secure gold medal in both (junior and senior) categories. In the last edition of this championship, held at Delhi in 2019, Rajveer had won silver medal.

Rajveer practices at the Elevate Shooting Range prepared at his village for him by his father, who himself used to take part in shooting competitions during 2011 to 2013.

Manpreet Singh Ayali, MLA from Dakha constituency, threw a warm reception in honour of star shooter for bringing fame to the region. “This achievement will motivate others to emulate Rajvee,” the MLA added.

An elated Rajveer said he owed his success to his mentor and father. He aimed at finishing at the victory podium in the World Shooting Championship, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics, Rajveer added.
