Punjab girls win basketball gold

Ludhiana, June 15

Players of the Punjab girls’ basketball team won gold in the Khelo India Youth Games held recently in Haryana.

In the league matches, they outperformed Karnataka 75-45; drubbed hosts Haryana 72-49 and overpowered Kerala 72-60 to enter the semi finals. In the semi final, Punjab girls proved too good for Rajasthan whom they edged out 74-46 to set up the summit clash with Tamil Nadu. In the final, Punjab outwitted their opponents 68-57 to romp home champions.
