Punjab Agricultural University staff continue pen-down strike

Employees of Punjab Agricultural University observed a pen-down strike for the second day today.

Baldev Singh Walia, president, PAU Employees Union, said all employees of the university, including teachers, non-teaching staff and Class IV staff members, observed the pen-down strike from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. He said the strike would continue till demands of the employees were met.

Talking about the demands, he said demands include reduction of the experience period for promotion of technical staff, increase the number of posts of car/jeep drivers supervisors, to get implemented old pension scheme on employees recruited before July 9, 2012, to increase posts of Assistant Forest Officer and change of qualification for the same, implementation of 2400 grade pay for library and metrological attendant, to get paid employees recruited after January 15, 2015, salary as per DC rates during probation, to get filled all vacant posts of promotion and to get permanent all employees working on a contract basis.

A joint protest of all employees unions has been going on in the PAU since October 13.
