GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, wins overall trophy of PU youth festival

The GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, bagged the overall trophy while the Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana, and the GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan, secured the second and third positions, respectively, on the concluding day of the Panjab University Youth Festival of Education Zone-B held at the Gurusar Sadhar college.

The concluding day of the festival witnessed performances of students in events such as vaar singing, kali singing, kavishri and heritage crafts such as guddian patole making, chikku making, pranda making, peerhi making, tokri making, etc. Group Capt Ajneesh Tyagi, Chief Engineering Officer, Air Force Station, Halwara, was chief guest in the first session while Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, renowned environmentalist, was the chief guest during the second session of the concluding day.

Sant Seechewal while addressing students showed concern for increasing environmental pollution. He stressed on the need of inculcating moral values in students, especially those belonging to primary and middle classes, through curriculum and said: “If we want to control pollution, we must be aware of the problem.” — TNS

City student selected for national dance event

Ludhiana: A Class XI student of Spring Dale School, Gursewak Singh, won the first position in the solo folk dance competition at state level in Kala Utsav 2021 and has been selected for the national event. Gurleen Kaur and Rani Shukla of Class XII won third positions in solo musical instrument and solo dance classical, respectively. — TNS
