Continuing their attempt to highlight the issue of inflation and exorbitant fuel prices in the country, office-bearers and activists of various wings of the Congress organised protests and rallies in the region, a day after the commencement of ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’.

Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh Boparai, Payal MLA Lakhvir Singh Lakha, legislators Surjit Singh Dhiman and Kuldeep Singh Vaid led the activists organising events to highlight the effects of alleged defective policies of the Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the common man

Kamil Amar Singh, halqa in-charge, Raikot, and Teji Kamalpur, PA to MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman, said office-bearers and activists had prepared a draft plan to aware residents of the region of alleged policies of the Central Government, appeasing their masters in the corporate sector at the cost of the common man.

The Congress leaders said the motive behind the campaign was to increase awareness among the public about inflation across the country under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime.

“Under the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre, price of LPG has also increased steeply from 2014 till now,” said Boparai. The MP stated that prices of petrol, diesel and other essential items too had persistently increased.
