Property dealer booked for duping retired teacher

The City Ahmedgarh police have booked a property dealer for allegedly duping a retired teacher and a social activist of Rs 11,95,000 on the pretext of purchasing a cheaper land for establishing charity organisations, including gaushalla and langar halls.

Accused Satnam Singh of Randhir Singh of Ludhiana has not been arrested yet.

Though complainant Manjit Kaur of Dashmesh Nagar, ward no. 17, Ahmedgarh, had lodged a complaint at the Sangrur SSP office around one year ago on July 8, 2019, an FIR has now been registered.

Manjit Kaur, a retired teacher now residing at Kukkarwal village, alleged that the accused had duped her of Rs 11,95,000 and jewellery worth lakhs on various occasions since 2013 when she met him regarding the purchase of a plot. He had also defrauded her by misusing a power of attorney during this period.

The SSP Sangrur office had forwarded the complaint to the Superintendent of Police at Malerkotla for verification of allegations against Satnam Singh and his wife. Though Manjit Kaur had substantiated her allegation on the basis of documents and statements of various bank accounts, she could not produce any evidence against the main accused’s wife.

Satnam Singh pleaded innocence during investigations but he could not produce any witness or evidence to prove his claim.

Complying orders of Sangrur SSP Sandeep Garg, Ahmedgarh City SHO Amandeep Kaur has registered an FIR under Section 420 of the IPC against the accused but no arrest has been made yet.
