In the world of digital era, the foremost challenge before us is to prevent our eyes from digital eye strain. It is a common issue faced by many, especially during the pandemic. One should focus on taking frequent breaks while using digital devices.

A city-based eye specialist said while technology was a boon but its overuse might result in damages beyond control. “Exposure to blue light for long hours may lead to strain, blurred vision and other eye-related issues. Children are at more risk and anti-strain glasses should be worn by them while using screen and frequent blinking should be practised to keep eyes lubricated,” he said.

Department of ophthalmology (eye) at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) organised an awareness talk in this regard as World Sight Day also falls in October and the theme for the same this year is ‘Love your Eyes’.

Dr Sandeep Puri Principal, DMCH, said: “Everyone should be aware about their own eye health. Eyes are precious and sight is the biggest blessing. No one should ignore any kind of visual problem and always seek prompt advice.”
