Ludhiana, June 14

With positive cases from Prem Nagar hitting the 18 mark, the administration declared it a containment zone today. Now, Ludhiana has three containment zones — Chowni Mohalla, area comprising Islam Ganj, Habib Ganj and Sansi Mohalla, and Prem Nagar.

The number of positive cases reported from Chowni Mohalla so far is 28. Thirtyone positive cases have been reported from Islam Ganj, Sansi Mohalla and Habib Ganj. The three containment zones are located close to each other.

House-to-house surveillance and contact tracing will be carried out for 14 days at Prem Nagar. If more than one case is not reported from this area in 14 days, then the zone will be opened, otherwise the containment period will be extended by one week, said the Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga.

“Only medical emergencies and essential services will be provided in these areas and the entire area will be sealed.

A buffer zone has also been created. If anyone tests positive, he or she will be immediately shifted to a health centre,” said Dr Ramesh, District Epidemiologist.
