Powercom defers payment of electricity bills till April 15

In the wake of 21-day lockdown announced by the government to deal with Covid-19 threat, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has decided to provide relief in payment of electricity bills to consumers by extending last date for payment, which was due on or after March 20 to April 15, 2020.

In a commercial circular (13/2020 dated March 23, 2020), it has been stated that monthly/bi-monthly electricity bills upto Rs 10,000 of domestic (DS), commercial (NRS) and small industry (SP) consumers would be accepted till April 15 without any surcharge or late payment charges.

Relief to industry

The PSPCL has further announced that power supply of small-scale units (SP) and medium-scale units (MS) would not be disconnected till April 15, 2020, in view of the prevailing lockdown necessitated by outbreak of Covid-19.

A commercial circular (14/2020 dated March 24, 2020) issued by the PSPCL states while SP consumers could pay their electricity bills falling due on or after March 20 till April 15, 2020, without any late payment charges while those under the MS category would have to make payment of their energy bills on due dates.
