Police return 204 lost, snatched mobile phones to owners

As part of a special drive launched by the Commissionerate Police, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar handed over 204 lost, stolen or snatched mobiles to their owners during an event held at the Police Lines here today.

Accompanied by other senior police officials, Bhullar said in present times mobile phones are important for everyone due to saved data, including contacts, passwords, personal information and personal pictures/videos.

He said the Ludhiana police have made it a priority to trace lost or stolen phones with the help of technology and hand them over to the owners immediately. Making a special mention of efforts of IT and cyber cell teams for tracking and recovering the mobile phones, the CP said most of the owners belong to middle class families and each mobile phone cost around Rs 10,000.

Advising people to quickly report to the police about loss of mobile phones, especially smart phones, so that these are not misused by anti-social elements, Bhullar said this would further help the police to take strict action against the miscreants. He also directed the officials to prepare data of case properties so that these could be given back to their owners. He also solicited full support of people in making Ludhiana crime-free and ensuring effective zero tolerance policing.

Meanwhile, the CP felicitated 36 cops, including a police team that had busted a Rs 35-lakh robbery, and others for arresting snatchers and thieves. Bhullar was accompanied by DCP SPS Dhindsa, ADCPs Dr Pragya Jain and Rupinder Kaur Bhatti and ACP Harsimrat Pal Singh.

He handed over commendation certificates to police officials who were part of the team that had cracked Rs 35-lakh robbery, which included Sub-Inspectors Harminder Singh, Satish Kumar, Amarjit Singh and Jaspal Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Ravinder Pal Singh, Rupinderdeep Singh, Amrik Singh, Ashok Kumar, Jaspal Singh, Kulwant Singh, Balwinder Singh and Surinder Pal, Head Constables Balwinder Singh, Balkar Singh, Prabhjit Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Maninder Singh and Honeypreet Singh.

He also honoured Inspectors Satpal Singh, Madhu Bala, Gurjeet Singh, Rajwant Singh, Gurmail Singh, Lakhvir Singh, Jasvir Singh, Ajit Kumar, Manjot Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Dheeraj Sehgal, Harmanbir Singh, Rajinder Singh, Kulbir Singh, Sumandeep Singh, Manjinder Singh, Ravinder Singh and Udayvir Singh with commendation certificate for their dedication towards their duty and arresting snatchers, thieves and other criminals.
