Police ask residents to report curfew violations in city

Ludhiana, April 3

With rising cases of curfew violation, the police have stepped up patrolling and nakas. Hundreds of people are daily sent to four makeshift open jails in the city.

Yesterday, 250 violators were lodged in the open jails. Today, dozens of people found roaming on roads without purpose were caught. The police have deployed special buses to ferry violators.

Meanwhile, the police have sought feedback from the residents and asked them to report curfew violations.

“The purpose of imposing curfew is to help maintain physical distancing of 2 metre as also to prevent movement of people from one place to another so that corona virus does not spread. The best way to ensure this is to remain inside homes all time. There are a few places in Ludhiana where violation of curfew is still being witnessed.

“We will be stricter in enforcing curfew in the city. Please tell us names of places, mohallas, wards, streets and villages with time when curfew violation is high there,” says the Facebook post of the Ludhiana police.

People in large numbers are giving feedback on the post. Most of the people have mentioned that residents gather in internal streets during the morning and evening hours. The others commented that youngsters in large numbers still can be seen playing cricket and other games in grounds and streets and the police patrol never takes action.
