Police arrest three with 1.5-kg heroin, Rs16.80L

Ludhiana, April 4

The Ludhiana rural police have busted a gang of drug smugglers with the arrest of three of its members. The police have recovered 1.5 kg of heroin with Rs 16.80 lakh drug money. The value of the contraband is worth crores on the international market.

Ludhiana Rural SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said the CIA staff of Jagraon, along with a police party, were present at Leelan Megh Singh village when they received information that Satnam Singh, alias Nishan, of Dollewal in Kot; Lovepreet Singh, alias Lovely, of Sencha, near Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala; and Satvir Singh, alias Khanda, of Buta village in Kapurthala, were to deliver consignment in Jagraon. Acting on the tip-off, a naka was set up at Sidhwan Bet where an SUV bearing number HR-51 AAU 0936 was signaled to stop.

During search of the vehicle, 1.5 kg of heroin and Rs 16.80 lakh drug money were recovered. The suspects admitted that they had put up a fake number on the vehicle. Earlier, three cases at Fatehgarh Panjtoor, Moga, and two cases at Kot Isse Khan, Moga, were already registered under the NDPS Act against Satnam Singh. Two drug cases at Sadar Kapurthala and Kotwali Kapurthala were already registered against Lovepreet.
