Ludhiana, June 24

High drama was witnessed outside BVM School, Kitchlu Nagar, here, when parents protested against the school management for allegedly demanding fees for three months.

They sat on a dharna outside the school for about three hours and repeatedly asked to let them enter its premises so that they can talk with the management to sort out things.

Rahul Gupta, one of the parent, alleged that nobody opened the gate till the SHO concerned arrived on the spot.

He said: “We got a call from the school to deposit fees for three months from April onwards. They told us to deposit the same by June 25. Today, we came to talk to the school authorities but they did not open the gate. Later, when we blocked the road in protest, the police came and intervened.”

Parents said parents of children studying in nursery got message to teach them alphabets.

“We are teaching them, what is their role in it. They threatened over phone that if the fees was not paid, they will start deleting names of students from groups through which online classes are being taken for all classes,” alleged a parent.

Meanwhile, Principal Neelam Mittar said the management was not pressuring the parents to pay three months’ fees and they were free to give one-month or two-month fees as per their convenience and that too, only the tuition fees. Points raised by the parents will be presented before the school management. Since the date of depositing fees was June 25, they were sent reminders regarding the same yesterday due to which they staged a protest today.
