Meanwhile, in order to find hidden and unreported cases of Covid-19, awareness teams of the Mass Media Department of the Civil Surgeon’s Office are now exhorting people to come forward for sampling. On Monday, all the three awareness teams visited different parts of the city, which were once containment zones or had positive cases.

In order to find hidden cases, the teams motivated people to come forward for sampling, which was done by the Health Department free of cost.

As per the government directions, Covid test of residents of containment and micro-containment zones in district is mandatory.

Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, said, “The Health Department has ramped up testing considerably. Increased testing is vital for early detection of Covid cases, which in turn helps in controlling the spread of disease. More sampling means more cases can be tracked early.”

“Covid sampling takes less than a minute. The process is so smooth that person giving sample won’t feel anything. The procedure of collecting sample is completely painless,” he added.

Giving a sample would rule out any possibility of contracting the virus, he said. In order to counsel residents, who resisted or hesitated in giving samples, three teams of the mass media wing were visiting different areas of the city and motivating people to come forward for sampling by clearing their apprehensions.
