As many as 243 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported from Ludhiana district while seven persons died due to the disease in last 24 hours.

The persons, who died at private hospitals, include a 47-year-old man from Sheikhupura, a 58-year-old man from Janta Nagar, a 66-year-old woman from Preetam Nagar and a 65-year-old man from Rahon Road. Besides, a 60-year-old man from Dhandari, a 49-year-old woman from Gurmail Kaur Road and a 70-year-old woman from Vishwakarma Chowk area, who were admitted to the Civil Hospital, lost their lives to the virus.

In all, 255 patients, including 243 new from Ludhiana district and 12 from other states/districts tested Covid positive in the last 24 hours. Out of 243 patients in Ludhiana district, 80 have influenza like illness while 56 came in the contact of Covid patients. Besides, 25 patients who visited OPD, include eight cops, nine healthcare workers, five domestic or international travellers and nine pregnant women. The Health Department is tracing 49 positive patients.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Sharma said, “There are 1,699 active patients in the district at present. In all, 3,871 patients have been declared fully cured in the district.”

“Till date, as many as 75,103 samples have been taken out of which report of 74,054 has been received. Report of 67,628 samples is negative and 1,049 is pending. Now, there are 5,767 patients related to Ludhiana 659 are from other districts/states,” the DC added.

“Ten patients lost their lives to the disease today, which include seven from Ludhiana, two from Jalandhar and one from Gurdaspur,” the DC said. “Today, 359 persons were sent to home quarantine,” the DC added.
